USRP Coaches Named High School Coaches of the Year

Father Lopez Coach Rob Klotzbach and Spruce Creek Coach Anne Grams were named 2018 Coaches of the Year for Volusia and Flagler Counties by the News-Journal.

Coach Rob was selected as the Boys Coach of the Year.  The Father Lopez boys team went undefeated in dual meets and gave 5 Star Champion Flagler-Palm Coast their only defeat of the year.  Coach Rob took over as head coach at Lopez in 2017. Quoting the News-Journal, "The Green Wave has experienced a fairly unbelievable turnaround over the last two years and edged conference champion FPC head-to-head to claim local supremacy."  The boys team finished second in their District and at Catholic State Championships.  They were 6th out of 18 schools at the Regional meet.  Coach Rob founded USRP Racers in 2014.

Coach Anne was selected as Girls Coach of the Year.  This was her first year as Head Coach of Spruce Creek High School, but she began helping the Spruce Creek team in various capacities in 1993.  She has been a parent volunteer, timer, official, meet manager, parent coordinator, and assistant coach prior to assuming the role of head coach.  1993 marked the first year that the Spruce Creek girls won the 5-Star Championship meet, beating previous champion Seabreeze by one point.  During the 2018 season, the Creek girls won their 25th consecutive 5-Star Championship and went undefeated in dual meets.   Coach Anne has been a USRP coach since its founding.
