The USPR Racers Swim Team provides swim instruction to swimmers of all ages and abilities in a positive environment with focus on proper stroke development and learning to race.  Our facility, Cypress Aquatic Center, is a six-lane, 25-yard outdoor pool, temperature-controlled between 78 and 83 degrees year round.

Itsy-Bitsy Racers:

The Itsy-Bitsy Racers training group is for children who can swim but need more instruction before joining the Little Racers.

Annual Fee: $25

Monthly fees: $30 for two 45 minute sessions per week.

Practice times:

August 14 - October 30:

Monday and Friday 5:00-5:45 pm

Little Racers:

This group includes young and beginning swimmers generally between the ages of 5 to 11 with minimal swim experience but who are able to swim one length of the pool unaided.  The Little Racers’ instruction focuses on developing solid fundamentals necessary for success in competitive swimming: proper stroke technique, breathing, swim terminology, using a pace clock, plus gaining strength through kicking.  Having fun and making friends is vital at this stage.

Motto: "A person will never truly be great at anything, if they do not love what they are doing."

Annual fee:

New swimmers: $100 includes registration in USA Swimming, a team tee shirt, and cap. Renewals: $75

Monthly fees: $60 for three 75 minute sessions per week. The team offers a $10 reduction for the second swimmer in a family, $20 for the third, and the fourth is free.

Practice times (choose any three times):

Beginning August 14:

Monday – Friday  5:00-6:15 pm

Junior Racers:

Junior Racers are generally middle-school students but also include some of the more experienced and proficient 9 and 10 year olds. Junior Racers continue to learn stroke technique, streamlining, and race pace training.  Starts, turns, underwater breakouts and finishes become part of every practice.  Light dry land training such as core work, stretching, and body weight resistant drills is incorporated. Junior Racers learn to compete at race speed while understanding the value of good sportsmanship toward all. We value the lesson of congratulating a teammate when they best you in a race, then using that as motivation for you to best them next time.

Motto: “Quality competition breeds quality competitors.”

Annual Fee:

Senior Racers:

Senior Racers include high school and college swimmers.  High intensity USRPT training is used on a daily basis, along with continual stroke instruction and fine-tuning. Race strategy, starts, turns, underwater breakouts, and competitive racing are stressed. Secondary dry land and weight training is strongly encouraged. Body resistance swim workouts with drag suits or weight belts are occasionally used.  Excellence in training and in character are both expected as part of being a "Racer."

Motto: “Dare to be different.”
